Best Man Speeches at Weddings: Five Essentials

Being a best man at a wedding is such a big honor. It could only mean that this person is your brother, the brother of your bride or your best friend. However, together with being a best man are the responsibilities that come with it, such as making sure that you help the groom out in some of the preparations, hosting the stag party and the most dreadful of all, the speech.

Best man speeches at weddings can be tough for some since the best man is the first one to propose a toast. This gives extra pressure to the best man. However, you should not feel that it is a hard task, just keep these guidelines in mind:

1)      Do not forget the introduction.

The introduction is a way to break the ice and to release the tension off. This is also the time wherein you can introduce yourself to the guests and how the groom and you are related.

2)      Thank the people who came to the wedding.

This is just a simple gesture that you can pitch in your speech.

3)      Share a funny story.

Stories about you and the groom’s misadventures are common when it comes to best man speeches at weddings.

4)      Compliment the bride.

Say something like, “My best friend is a lucky guy because he met you.”

5)      Give best wishes to the couple.

End your speech by congratulating the couple for having found each other.

Best man speeches are one of those times wherein you can show the groom, whoever he is in your life, that he matters and the friendship you have shared.
